Last week, we participated in the European Language Industry’s Association (ELIA) Annual Conference “Together 2023” which took place in Rome, Italy.
Elia is the European not-for-profit trade association of language service companies. It was founded in 2005, and has become the leading trade association for the language services in Europe. Since the pandemic began, all conferences had been held online, so this edition of the Together event was a very special one for organizers Diego Cresceri, Indre Lelevinciene, and other members, who had been planning for this event for more than two years.
The three-day event began with an afternoon of workshops introducing the latest trends of the translation and localization industry, such as machine translation, AI-assisted translation and all sorts of software developments. The second and third day consisted of several presentations and panels from industry experts, a job fair, panel discussions and plenty of networking sessions. After each busy day, there was time for a short sightseeing walk around the eternal city of Rome!
From more than 80 proposals, 18 were selected to be presented at the event. Among those 18 speakers from the language industry was our colleague Luz M. Sanchis, who is now representing our company in Europe. She carried out a presentation regarding Minority (or minoritized) languages in Europe and Asia and the role of our industry in promoting and protecting them. Around 60 attendees joined her talk and vividly participated, sharing their experience, insights and concerns as speakers of minority languages and members of the language industry from all around the world.
We were very glad to see the growing interest towards Asian Languages among the European colleagues, both freelancers and company representatives. From MTS, we appreciate the efforts of the organizers, who brought us an excellent space for networking and promotion of our translation from and into Asian languages such as Chinese, Japanese or Korean, among others.
Are you looking for a reliable partner for your Asian language projects? Look no further, we are here to assist you.
